Vintage 1951 Holton Revelation Series Model 48 Trumpet w/ OHSC

For your consideration is a vintage Holton trumpet with it's original Holton branded hard case. This model 48 from the Revelation series dates to 1951 according to the Holton Loyalist site (SN: 225596).
The following is a quote from a Holton Catalog in the 1950's describing the model 48;
"An all purpose trumpet, Model 48 is particularly recommended for those who like plenty of power, unusual freedom of response and a big, yet brilliant tone. Larger bore mouthpiece and bell give a little more power and a fuller tone than model 45. Yet it has a beautiful and exceptionally easy high register. Top action shrouded spring valves are very light and fast. Bore .459, bell diameter 4 13/16 inches, weight approximately 39 ounces."
This particular trumpet has seen some wear and tear through the years, but is still playable and with some service could be a great playing horn for someone. As we did our inspection, we noticed that there was obvious plate wear throughout the horn as well as areas that have dents. No leaks were present during the play testing phase of our inspection, but we recommend having the dents removed regardless. Also, we saw there was missing hardware for the third slide section in the form of a connecting rod. This hardware doesn't affect playability but with it missing means the horn is no longer original. We also found there to be a large crinkle dent in the bell. While not pleasant looking, the bell dent is not structural in nature and can be fixed. Included in the listing is a Holton 67 mouthpiece that came in with the trumpet. This mouthpiece appears to be in good shape with no major dings or dents present. Plate wear is present but does not hurt the playability of the mouthpiece. Lastly, the plate wear on the valves is quite extensive. Each will likely need to be re-plated at some point but are currently functional.
For the above mentioned items, we recommend speaking with your local repair technician before making an offer or purchasing the item. Repair rates and services vary from shop to shop.
Not many of these models are found online but the few that we have found seem to be fairly sought after for their unique tone. We also had our in house brass instructor play the instrument to get his thoughts. He mentioned the instrument played a little stuffy on the third valve but says this instrument would benefit greatly from a regulation and adjustment upon prospective buyer's receipt of the instrument.
