Item Listing #004 – A Rare Cornet and a Classic Trumpet
Are you a brass player or know of someone who is? Are you an aficionado of rare trumpets and cornets? Do you need an extra instrument? If so, then this instrument is for you.
Welcome to my Virtual Estate Sale.
I decided to go the social media/eBay route to downsize after contacting several companies that specialize in estate sales. The amount that they wanted off the top was crazy. While selling my collections, inherited items, and “stuff” that I have accumulated over the decades by this route is more tedious, it allows me to pass along the savings to YOU.
Many of the items have sentimental value, and all were important at various times during the last 50 years of my life. My sincere wish is to find good homes for these items so that they may have another fruitful life after me.
No reasonable offer will be refused.
All items are from a smoke free environment and were generally kept in as perfect condition as possible. The biggest problem that these items had to deal with was dust!
Items are sold “as is”, and there are no implied warranties. All items will be shipped as cheap as possible, unless the buyer wants something expedited, or local pickup is a possibility.
Today’s listing is for two musical instruments – a classic Cleveland Superior trumpet and a very rare British cornet made in 1926. I last played the cornet in 1985, and the trumpet several years before that. I have maintained both instruments over the years, and all the valves work.
Both instruments are in excellent condition and are complete with the original mouth pieces and carrying cases.
Cleveland Trumpet: This is a classic trumpet. Not sure what else to say about the instrument other than it was my spare which I used to practice at home.
Boosey & Co Cornet: This is a rare cornet that has a tuning dial that can change the pitch of the instrument. The London-based Boosey company has a rich history and reputation for excellence and innovation in creating musical instruments for the discerning musician. This cornet is no different. The sound that emanates from the cornet is rich and full-bodied. In all my years of playing, I never heard another trumpet or cornet that had the same quality of timber that this one has. It is time that this gets moved on to someone who will cherish this as much as I did.
These instruments are a tremendous find for new players and the well-seasoned musician alike.
