    Drake Pintail Palm Frond hunting decoy hand carved & painted by Stan Vath of Olivenhain CA. Palm Frond construction with glass eyes. Very light bird an authentic example of this specie. Signed and hot branded by the carver. About 25”long. Weighs 1 lb. 12 oz. Stronger than balsa Wood but just as light or lighter. Palm frond decoys originated near Sacramento in the central valley in the 1930s. There were many made but few survived. This is an authentic example of a West Coast palm frond pintail decoy. These have been used recently at Bill Goenne’s TWIN LAKES DUCK CLUB near los banos California.
