Description
Description:This clear glass serving plate was made by the Paden City Glass Company about 1930. The glass pattern is affectionately called Square Crow's Foot with the raised fan pattern. It is the square style with a curling side edge. Fancy small handles are on two corners. The plate sits up off the table top allowing the silver to be beautifully displayed. This plate has slightly slanting sides with a deep well center. It slight foot and sloping sides raised it up slightly for the table top. Silver overlay: The fancy design features trellis work, arcing laurel leaves, joining braids, curving lines and medallion centers. The design is repeated around the plate. The handles are silvered and there is silver edge trim.
Size:
About 11.5" square (14" including handles) Sits about 1.75" off table top. The center of the well is about 3.25" in diameter.
Condition:
The glass has no chips or cracks. It has very slight usage marks. It has 2 manufacturer "straw marks" lines in the well. The silver appears to be almost complete, I see 3 missing small laurel leaves and stems. The silver is somewhat tarnished, but I believe it is the silver formula that doesn't get heavily tarnished.
Notes, Reviews:
The heavy silver overlay resembles a fancy doily cut out of silver and fused to the plate. This plate could be used as a serving piece or it could be used to hold a compote or cheese dish. It will be a beautiful display piece when not in use.
