Candle Holder? Vintage Bronze Finish Brass Clothed Monkey Statue Butler 15 1/2"

This listing is for the brass statue of a clothed monkey that you see in the photos. To me, it looks somewhat like a butler or other servant. The antique dealer that I purchased it from did not know its history. I am guessing that it is from the middle part of the 20th century. I leave it to the buyer to decide how old it is.
The statue is on a stand that is about 3 inches tall. Including the stand, the whole thing measures close to 15 ½ inches to the top of the monkey's hands and weighs close to 5 pounds 1 ounce. The bottom of the base measures close to 4 ½ by 6 inches. The holes on the  top of the hands and the exposed brass around them make me think that it is probably made for holding holders for candles. Or, I think that it might have held a tray.
I think that the finish on the brass was probably intended to resemble old bronze with a heavy patina. The base appears to be made from some kind of pressed wood. I do not know if the  pads on the bottom are original or not.
The condition is much like you see it in the 17 photos after the general description. Outside of what is apparently missing, the statue looks fine. There is wear along the edges of the base that appears nearly white against the black in the photos. There is a tiny spot of what looks like clear glue on the top of the base. There are some light scratches on the base. Otherwise, statue and base appear to be fine and as shown. My photos should give you a good idea of their general condition.

Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs “close to” because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure.

Often, I have a custom made box for larger items and that can result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually biodegradable. Sometimes, I recycle used boxes.
