Glass Eyed Bluebill Drake Decoy by Chauncey Wheeler Circa 1920, Alexandria Bay, NY.
A hard to find Chauncey Wheeler decoy as seen in photos and described below.
Snakey neck, glass eyes and carved eye grooves. Great sculptural quality and a terrific patina on this rare piece of hunting history/ American folk art. Measures 16" long x 5.25” tall.
All original decoy with well worn paint; shot over, wear at left edge of lower mandible (possible old paint touch-up to worn area of mandible). Weight removed ages ago. Head is on nice and tight, small vertical check crack at front base of neck.
Old labels on bottom.
